Writing is like breathing, I can't live without it. Since graduating from R.M.I.T in 2000, I have been a full-time writer. Everyday, I create, edit, speak about, or promote my writing.

No matter what I might achieve, my family are, and always will be, the most important aspect of my life!

THE EARLY YEARS

I raised in Doveton in the 60's. I am the seventh of nine children. Growing up life was tough, but I knew there was a wonderful world waiting for me. All I needed was an education, the courage to believe in myself, and the gall to go for it. I have never lost that determination!
THE JOURNEY SO FAR

I always loved school, reading, writing and netball. As a child, reading was seen as a luxury, “people filling your head with silly ideas”, but I’d hide away with my books and escape into another world – and before long I started to create my own stories. My own worlds. I wrote my first play in Grade Five, which was performed before the entire school. I began my first novel in Year Nine. The Second Hundred Years. By Year Ten, I was writing 4000 word stories, instead of the required 400 words.

After school, I became a Dental Nurse. It took nearly thirty years, two occupations and three children, before I began to study writing, commencing with a Romance Writing course at Holmesglen Tafe. I loved it and my passion from writing was reignited!

The following year I did my certificate 4 at Sandybeach Community Centre. This course gave me the skills to apply for the prestigious R.M.I.T. Professional Writing & Editing course. The selection process was arduous: a sample of my writing, 2 references, and an interview for those talented enough to be considered. I was offered a position which I readily accepted.

Now I have six published books
Make-up Book
Fishing Tips & Tales
Published by Hinkler Books.

Netball Dreamz 1 a book a dream a plan.
Netball Dreamz 2 a season a challenge a goal.
Netball Dreamz 3 a signature a discovery a dance.
Netball Dreamz 4 a new beginning.
All co-written with Gillian Lee and self-published by Netskills.

Lenora Girls' School The Scholarship Kid. 2012
Self-published by Sentence Construction.

My plan for you

Now it is time to share my knowledge and passion with others.

First and foremost, I want to make it fun, which should be easy because I always enjoy writing.
But it's about results too, so you can expect:
  • Writing exercises.
  • To improve your dialogue.
  • To play around with tense.
  • Look at things from different perspectives.
  • Investigate different genres.
  • Be inspired by music and art.
  • Get in touch with your senses.
  • Learn the importance of strong verbs.
  • Eliminate weak modifiers.

And write some truly wonderful words!

I will always give you enthusiastic, constructive feedback, so you want to learn more,
write more.

I also have a wealth of knowledge in the areas of editing, layout and publishing and with so many different mediums to publish now; everyone has the potential to change that idea for a book, into a reality.

I'd love to share my knowledge, and passion for writing, with you.
